Newfarm offers an extensive variety of plants, some are the plants we know and love, others are not available to buy in supermarkets and our horticulturalists and chefs are working tirelessly to incorporate new plants and recipes to offer you more gourmet experiences everyday.

Marko dimensions are 50cm wide, 30cm deep and 1.5m tall, Marko is designed to take up the minimal footprint in you home and look great!

Hydroponics is a well known and reliable cultivation method that allows greater control over the growth of the plants and thus is perfect for a compact indoor system. It uses an inert substrate instead of soil and provides the required nutrients to the plants by dissolving minerals in the water for the plants. This growing method uses less energy and water, yes paradoxically we can save water with hydroponics! It also allows greater control over the nutrients provided to each plant, our nutrients provides the same as what the plant would need in the soil however it is in a form readily available for the plant to use and thus the plant has everything available and can focus on growing faster, which it does by as much as 30%! Equally important is having the plant protected in controlled conditions which means there are less external factors influencing the plant and so the success of growing in Marko is assured.

At Newfarm we have carefully studied all aspects, this includes the type of substrate. We have chosen coconut fiber as the main ingredient as it has a number of characteristics that make it ideal:

Sustainable – coming from a natural renewable source, coconuts.
Versatile – it offers various densities, allowing us to optimize the characteristics of the substrate for each plant depending on how much water and oxygen it needs.
Inert – with proper treatment, it does not interfere with the minerals in the hydroponic fertilizer.

We add perlite to the coco fiber as perlite allows air to flow through the substrate which is import for plant roots.

In hydroponics, by definition, no substrate is needed because water is the base, however the plant´s roots need something to attach to so they can support the plant and selecting the right mix allows the roots to have the perfect balance of air and nutrients. At Newfarm we have this perfect balance for your plants.

We have worked hard on the design of Marko to have the right balance between plant growth, system size and work required by the user. 8 plants is an ideal number to maximize the gastronomic experience offered with Marko, it is designed for home chefs to elevate their cooking.

The Marko system has a capacity for 8 plants. Newfarm has available aromatic herbs and salad plants that you only need to use in small quantities to add life to your daily dishes.

Our subscription service offers live cooking classes, recipes, tips, access to our community and new plants every 3 months to keep you engaged with your cooking and enjoying it. Our system is designed to use quantities of plants according to their growing time in Marko, i.e. recipes with small quantities for the beginning of the cultivation and larger quantities as the plants grow, all tested by our chefs.

The user installs the Marko system at home. Then chooses the plants they wish to grow, which are offered as seedlings (ready to use) in an exclusive pot, which is inserted as easily as a coffee machine capsule: the pot includes the plant and is inserted into the system with a single gesture.

Once the pot is installed in the Marko system, it takes care of the rest. Using Newfarm’s patented irrigation system and with the perfect proportions of nutrients, substrate, water and light supplied, the plants will stay healthy and grow quickly.

The system’s automated control will alert you when you need to refill the reservoir with water ad nutrients.

It is recommended to change the plants every three months, as this is when they begin to lose their organoleptic characteristics. Plants also age, plus this is a good amount of time to experience plants and you will be ready to try new Newfarm varieties by then!

The modular plant system allows you to change the plants in the system very easily and cleanly.

Marko is delivered assembled!

You only need to choose where you want it in your home, and follow a few simple steps to get your plants growing in your home. Our APP guides you through the whole process.

The system is automated, so it needs little attention from the user. You will only have to change the water in the tank about every 4 weeks and observe the state of your plants. Although that will also be taken care of by the App, which will guide you and give you instructions on what to do and when, so it is not necessary to have any knowledge about plant care.

At Newfarm we have worked hard to make sure nothing goes wrong. The functional intelligence of the system has been developed after several years of research, testing and expert advice. We have solved all problems down to the smallest detail.

That being said, we are working with nature and there are items out of our control. Once you enter the Newfarm community we will help you every step of the way. We are here to solve any kind of problem regarding hardware, software or related to plant growth.

The App is a great support as well, it connects to the system and, optionally, you can track the plants in an easy and entertaining way.
